This historic brownstone impresses upon its guests, an Italian sensibility with pillars at the entrance bolstering a juliette balcony in front of a tall arched window, framed by art deco moulding. Using classic Carrara marble and illuminating white oak with punches of Eucalyptus green and federal blue, a Mediterranean theme charms this Clinton Hill brownstone. The redesign of this landmark building revolves around a twisted ribbon staircase, preserving the singular architectural element from the home’s previous life. The rest of the interiors is meant to feel rooted in its historic past but amenable to modern lifestyle with new fixtures and amenities. With the challenge of a spatially constrained site with a side entrance, corridors were reduced in size and the layout was reconfigured to accommodate contemporary domestic living.
