A three-storey Bed-Stuy brownstone is revived with a blend of modern Swiss flair and traditional New England spirit for an art professor, a sound engineer in film and their young child. This 1899 brick rowhouse originates from a blend of both the Italianate and Federal styles; our design intervention breathes new life into the space to inspire creative and casual living. The intention was to preserve some of the treasured characteristics that reveal the history of the building such as the fireplace, original brick, and radiators. Contemporary fixtures and furnishings, skylights, and a new modern staircase are introduced to the space to weave together new and old. A timeless and elegant backdrop reflects the usersโ respective cultural influences and encourages their varied interests and activities.
